The Century Project has reached its full height. At its highest point, it is 240 feet above street level. On October 17, St. Mary’s and FCI/McCarthy celebrated the raising of the final tower beam. In construction terms the project has “topped out.”
“But that doesn’t mean things are slowing down. Through the coming months work will continue on every level of the tower, as well as on the education addition and the new kitchen and dining facilities,” explains Rob Jenkins, Century Project owner’s representative.
Interior work on the new Emergency Department, Surgical Services, and the Intensive Care and Cardiac Care units is progressing quickly. Framing, drywall and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing are all being installed. Progress on the exterior is visible as yellow sheathing, and white air and moisture barrier goes up. Brick masonry is also underway on the south and east walls. “With 375 construction workers on site, the building continues on schedule and on budget,” declares Jenkins.
