There’ll be a new boss at St. Mary’s helm for a while as a search is conducted for the hospital’s next president and chief executive officer. Terri Potter of Madison, Wisc., will keep an eye on things while St. Mary’s and the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCLHS) look for a replacement for Bob Ladenburger who left January 13 after leading the hospital for 10 years. Ladenburger is now president and CEO of Exempla Healthcare in Denver, a not-for-profit organization sponsored by the SCLHS and the LMC Community Foundation that includes three hospitals and a network of clinics.
“I am delighted to be here to serve as St. Mary’s Hospital interim president and CEO,” said Potter, whose first day on the job was January 20. “I have a lot to learn about the community, and while I am still learning the full depth and breadth of St. Mary’s values, I have felt a congruency with mine from my very first contact with the organization. I also believe that the environment we live in today requires collaboration whenever possible.”
Terri Potter served in leadership roles for over 40 years. For 17 years, he was CEO of Meriter Health Services in south-central Wisconsin, responsible for two hospitals, home health company, medical laboratory, nursing home, independent and assisted living senior housing, charitable foundation, and health plan providing managed care insurance products. Meriter Hospital received the 2006 Governor’s Forward Award of Excellence, Wisconsin’s highest honor for organizational performance excellence and, like the Colorado Performance Excellence Award, the state’s equivalent of the Baldrige National Quality Award.
