You and your loved ones are invited to join St. Mary's support groups for recovery education, relaxation, therapies, and discussions. Support groups are a free service provided by St. Mary's Hospital.
Cancer Care Support Groups
St. Mary's Regional Cancer Center offers many programs for people living with cancer and those who love them. All groups are free and led by trained instructors and meet at St. Mary's Advanced Medicine Pavilion, 750 Wellington Avenue, Entrance 25, Grand Junction, CO. Stroke Support Group
Meetings are the third Friday of each month from 1:00-2:30 pm at St. Mary's Life Center, 2686 Patterson Road, Entrance 40, second floor, Grand Mesa Room. Dates for 2013 are below.
January 18: Life goal setting for 2013 and relaxation exercise presented by Mary Ellen Ireland, St. Mary’s Chaplain
February 15: Stroke survivor, Linda Kamby, will read short stories and poems she has written
March 15: Hobby demonstration by survivors—bring your hobby/crafts or be ready to share! Marian Dorm will teach us about vegetarian eating as well.
April 19: Preparing your garden and yard for spring planting, presented by Bookcliff Gardens
May 17: Yoga demonstration and practice, presented by Fruita Recreation Center yoga instructors
June 21: Picnic potluck at Sherwood Park
July 19: Harpist and harp music-Local Harpist
August 16: Preventing Stroke and Another Stroke presented by Dr. Logan McDaneld, St. Mary’s Stroke Program Director
September 20: Stroke Recovery and Goal Setting for the Future, presented by James Tanner, Recreation Therapist, St. Mary’s Hospital
October 18: Plasticity and Brain Recovery after Stroke presented by Dr. Dan Slater, St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Medicine Director
November 15: Avoiding Holiday Stress presented by Kelly Arnold RN, St. Mary’s Stroke Program Coordinator
December 20: No meeting for holidays
